Make the Fitting Useful

Start with what feels wrong when you wear the garment: the length, the way it sits, or a fastening that no longer works. Our on-site fitting room lets us fit and mark the garment with it on.

Bring the shoes you will wear, so trouser and jean lengths are set correctly.
Point out the original jeans hem if keeping that detail matters to you.
For a coat zipper, note where it catches or separates and bring any detached pieces.

What decides whether an alteration is possible?

The garment does. Its seams, fabric and construction set what can change, so every alteration is fitted and marked with the piece on, in our on-site fitting room. Wear or bring the garment, and the fitting shows what the work involves.

Can one garment be cleaned and altered?

Yes. Note both at drop-off, with the date you need the piece back. We sequence the work so it returns cleaned, altered and finished, in one order.

Glenforest performs a wide range of alterations, each beginning with the garment and the change you would like to make. For alterations in Toronto, Glenforest has an on-site fitting room in Yonge and Lawrence Village, so every alteration is fitted in person.

Original hems for jeans are among the alterations offered. Wear or bring the garment, and we pin the length and fit at the fitting.

Hems, Seams and Buttons

A coat zipper, a fallen hem, a split seam or a missing button can retire a favourite piece. We repair it and return it finished.

Every alteration is formed and finished before it goes back to you. If the piece also needs cleaning, note it at drop-off: the repair and the cleaning are handled together.
