Privacy Policy

How Glenforest Cleaners collects, uses and protects the personal information in pickup requests, orders and enquiries.

Last updated October 30, 2026. This version takes effect on that date.

This policy explains how Glenforest Cleaners handles personal information: what we collect at the shop, through our pickup and delivery service and on www.glenforestcleaners.com, why we collect it, who receives it, how long we keep it and the choices you have.

Who We Are

Glenforest Cleaners is a garment care business at 3309 Yonge St, Toronto, ON, M4N 2L9, in Yonge and Lawrence Village. We are responsible for the personal information we collect, including the information our service providers handle for us. We follow Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for customers and visitors in Quebec, Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector.

Our privacy officer, Alex Zachos, Owner, is responsible for this policy and answers questions about it. You can reach our privacy officer at info@glenforestcleaners.com or 416 488-6717, or by mail at the address under Contact Us, below.

What We Collect

  • Pickup requests. When you request a pickup on our website: your name, phone number, email address, pickup address and postal code, the service you choose, your pickup day (or the day and time you would prefer) and any notes you add.
  • Orders at the shop and with our driver. Your name, phone number and the details of the garments you leave with us. If you are a regular customer who chooses automatic billing: with your consent, the payment card you ask us to keep on file.
  • Online orders. When you buy Glenforest Reserve products online: the contact, delivery and order details you enter at checkout. You enter payment details on the checkout page, where our e-commerce platform and its payment processors handle them; we do not receive your full card number.
  • Business customers. If your business buys from us on account: the business name, your name, email address and phone number, the billing and shipping addresses, and the invoices and payment records (amount, date, method and reference) for the account.
  • Calls and emails. The information you choose to give us.
  • Website visits. Our server records each request it receives: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from and the type of browser and device you use. Analytics and Advertising, below, describes what our analytics and advertising tool collects.

Please leave sensitive information, such as health or financial details, out of the notes you send us.

How We Use It

  • To schedule your pickup and delivery, confirm your order and send your receipt.
  • To care for your garments and answer questions about your order.
  • To charge a card on file for your orders, when you have asked us to.
  • To fill and deliver online orders.
  • To invoice business customers and record their payments.
  • To answer your calls, emails and enquiries.
  • To keep our website secure and working, and to stop abuse such as automated form submissions.
  • To keep the business and tax records the law requires.
  • To count visits, measure our ads and show them to people who may want our services, as Analytics and Advertising describes.

We do not sell personal information. We email you about your pickup or order, and we send news and offers by email when you have agreed to receive them. Every such email includes a way to unsubscribe, and you can also unsubscribe on our unsubscribe page or by calling the shop.

When you send a pickup request, place an order or contact us, you consent to the uses this policy describes for that information. Our analytics and advertising tool has choices of its own, described under Analytics and Advertising. You may withdraw your consent at any time, subject to legal or contractual limits. If you do, we still keep the records the law requires, and without your contact details and address we cannot collect or deliver an order.

If we keep a payment card on file for you, you may ask us at any time to remove it and stop automatic charges, by calling or emailing the shop.

Pickup Requests

A pickup request you send on our website is saved in our website's database, on a server in Canada. We also email its details to our shop inbox, so our staff can confirm your pickup day with you, and we may send you a short email confirming that we received it. That confirmation lists the service and pickup day you chose, and none of the other details you typed. The email to our shop also notes whether ad measurement was on for your browser and, if it was, which ad, campaign or link brought you to our site.

To stop abuse, our server counts recent requests from each internet address and each phone number. It holds these counts in a scrambled form, in memory, for 10 minutes, and never saves them. It keeps a similar scrambled note for 24 hours, so that one email address receives no more than one confirmation a day.

Glenforest staff and our website administrator sign in to see pickup requests. If you would rather not use the form, call the shop to request a pickup. The message form on our Contact page is switched off; to reach us, call or email the shop.

The Shop and Checkout

Glenforest Reserve products are sold through Shopify, our e-commerce platform. Some product photos and videos load directly from Shopify's servers, which then receive your IP address and browser details. Shopify keeps your cart, and our website remembers which cart is yours with a cookie (see Cookies, below). When you check out, you leave our website for Shopify's checkout page, where you enter your contact, delivery and payment details. Shopify handles them for us under its own privacy policy, and Shopify and its payment processors may store and process them outside Canada. We receive the details we need to fill your order.

Analytics and Advertising

We use the Meta Pixel (Facebook and Instagram) on www.glenforestcleaners.com. When you visit, this tool may set cookies and receive information about your visit: the pages and products you view, actions such as a pickup request, a tap on a phone or email link or adding a product to your cart, your device and browser details, your IP address and, if you arrived from one of our ads, the ad click identifier. We use this to count visits, to see which ads bring people to our site and to show our ads to people who may want our services.

When you send a pickup request, we also give the Meta Pixel your email address, phone number, first and last name and postal code, with your country, so Meta can match the request to people who saw our ads and measure how well those ads work (Meta calls this advanced matching). The Meta Pixel turns each of these details into a hashed code, a one-way scramble, in your browser before anything is sent. This happens while the Meta Pixel is on for your browser, and never after you opt out, under Global Privacy Control or, in Quebec, before you accept. We never send your street address or your notes, and we never send these details to Google. Meta uses the information it receives to measure and show our ads, and for its own purposes as its privacy policy describes.

When you check out from Glenforest Reserve, Shopify's checkout may also tell the Meta Pixel that a checkout started or a purchase was made, with the products, the total and your email address and phone number in hashed form. The checkout is Shopify's page, and your choice on our website carries over to it: after an opt-out, with Global Privacy Control, or in Quebec before you accept, the checkout does not tell the Meta Pixel anything. Shopify may also offer its own privacy choices there.

Our server also sends Meta its own copy of these pickup requests and online purchases (Meta calls this the Conversions API), so they are counted even when a browser blocks the Meta Pixel. Each copy carries the same details in hashed form, and for a purchase also your name, postal code and country in hashed form, together with your IP address, your browser details and the Meta browser and ad click identifiers from the cookies below. Meta keeps one copy of each event. Our server follows your choice on our website exactly: after an opt-out, with Global Privacy Control, or in Quebec before you accept, it sends Meta nothing. For an online order, your choice on our website when you checked out is the one that counts.

When a pickup you requested through our website becomes an order, we may later tell Meta that it did, with the order's value and the hashed contact details from your request, to measure how well our ads work. We do this for requests sent while ad measurement was on for your browser and never for others, and if you would rather we did not, tell us and we will leave your orders out.

Meta may process this information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of that country. Read Meta's privacy policy at facebook.com/privacy/policy.

Your Choices

Outside Quebec, this tool is on unless you opt out. You can opt out at any time with Ad preferences at the bottom of every page: your choice takes effect right away and is saved in a cookie on this browser for 12 months. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt out, and nothing loads. Opting out also deletes the gfc_fbc and gfc_src cookies and stops our server from sending Meta anything about your visits, pickup requests and orders. If you visit from Quebec, this tool stays off unless you turn it on.

To tell whether you are visiting from Quebec, our own server looks up the province of your IP address in a geolocation database it keeps (IP Geolocation by DB-IP, licensed under CC BY 4.0), and your browser's language and time zone count as well. The lookup happens on our server, and nothing about you is sent to DB-IP. The province is used for that page alone and is not stored.

You can also manage ads from Meta in your Facebook or Instagram settings, under Ad preferences and Your activity off Meta technologies, and from participating companies at youradchoices.ca.

Cookies

Cookies are small files a website saves in your browser. Our website sets these:

  • gfc_cart keeps your shopping cart between visits, for 30 days. The shop needs it to work.
  • gfc_consent remembers your choice about the tool under Analytics and Advertising, for 12 months.
  • _fbp and _fbc, from the Meta Pixel, hold a browser identifier and the ad click identifier for 90 days.
  • gfc_fbc and gfc_src, set by our website while the Meta Pixel is on for your browser, keep the ad click identifier and which ad, campaign or link brought you here, with the page you landed on, for 90 days.
  • payload-token keeps Glenforest staff signed in, on our separate staff site. Visitors to www.glenforestcleaners.com never receive it.

We do not store ad click identifiers in our website's database. When you send a pickup request, the ad, campaign or link that brought you here is noted in the email to our shop (see Pickup Requests). When you check out, it goes with your cart to Shopify with the Meta identifiers, and they stay with your order.

Other services set their own cookies on their own terms: Shopify on its checkout page, Google when a map loads, and the video services once you play a video. You can delete or block cookies in your browser's settings; without gfc_cart, the shop cannot keep your cart.

Maps, Videos and Fonts

The maps on our Contact and Location pages come from Google Maps. When a map loads, Google receives your IP address and browser details and may set cookies, under Google's privacy policy.

The videos on our service pages, our wet cleaning comparison page and our free pickup page load from Vimeo or YouTube when you press play, and not before. The films on Vimeo play with Vimeo's Do Not Track setting, and the film on YouTube plays in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode. Once a video loads, its service receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies, under Vimeo's privacy policy or Google's.

The lettering on our website uses Adobe Fonts, which loads from Adobe with every page. Adobe receives your IP address to deliver the fonts and records which fonts and which website used them, to pay the type designers. Adobe says it does not store your IP address or set cookies to serve its fonts (Adobe Fonts privacy). Our other typefaces come from our own server.

Who We Share It With

Service providers handle personal information for us, to provide their services to Glenforest:

  • Amazon Web Services hosts our website and its database on a server in Canada, in its Canada (Central) region in Montreal.
  • Our email providers carry and store the emails we send and receive, including pickup request emails.
  • Shopify runs our online shop and its checkout.
  • Our payment processor handles card payments at the shop, including charges to a card on file.
  • Our website and marketing agency, our website administrator, builds and maintains our website and manages our advertising, and can see pickup requests and other website records to support us.

Meta receives information from our analytics and advertising tool and, for Meta, from our server, as Analytics and Advertising describes, and uses it for its own purposes as well. Google, Vimeo and Adobe receive basic visit details when a map, a video or our fonts load, as Maps, Videos and Fonts describes. We may also disclose personal information when the law requires it, for example in answer to a court order.

Information Outside Canada

Our website and its database are on a server in Canada. Some of the companies named in this policy, including Shopify, our email providers, our payment processor, Meta and the map, video and font services, may store or process personal information outside Canada, including in the United States. While it is there, it is subject to the laws of that country, and its courts, law enforcement and national security authorities may be able to access it.

If you live in Quebec: your information may be communicated outside Quebec, including to our shop in Ontario and to the companies named in this policy.

How Long We Keep It

  • Pickup requests: as long as we need them to arrange your pickups and deliveries and to answer questions about your orders, then we delete them.
  • Records of sales: receipts, online orders, invoices and payment records, including business customers' account details, are kept for six years after the end of the tax year they relate to, as Canadian tax law requires, and longer while a tax review or appeal is open.
  • Payment cards on file: until you ask us to remove the card or you stop using automatic billing. The records of the sales charged to it are kept like any other records of sales.
  • Server records of website visits: about two weeks, then deleted.
  • Analytics and advertising: Meta keeps what this tool sends it under its own privacy policy, linked above, and we do not control how long.
  • Backups: we keep backup copies of our website database on our server in Canada, so we can recover from a fault, and delete each copy within about 12 months. Information deleted from the website can remain in a backup until that backup is deleted.

When we no longer need personal information, we delete it or make it anonymous.

How We Protect It

Our website uses an encrypted connection. Pickup requests and invoices open on a separate staff site that is closed to the public, and the Glenforest staff who handle pickups, orders and invoices, and our website administrator, sign in to see them. We limit access to the people who need it, and we use safeguards suited to the sensitivity of the information. If a privacy breach puts you at real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and report it to the privacy regulators, as the law requires.

Your Rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, how we have used it and who we have shared it with, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong. You may also withdraw your consent, as Your Consent describes. If you live in Quebec, you may also ask for the computerized personal information you gave us in a structured, commonly used format, along with the other rights Quebec law gives you.

To make a request, contact our privacy officer at info@glenforestcleaners.com or 416 488-6717. We may ask you to confirm who you are before we answer, and we respond within 30 days. If we cannot give you some information, for example because it is about another person, we will tell you why.

Questions and Complaints

If you have a concern about how we handle personal information, please contact our privacy officer first, and we will work with you to resolve it. If we do not resolve it, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. If you live in Quebec, you may also contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec.

Children

Our website and services are meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14. If you think a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

When this policy changes, we post the new version on this page with its date. When a change is important, we also post a notice of it on our website.
